Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before completing a booking with NIUE Rentals ("the Company", "we", "us").
By making a booking you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these terms.
1. Eligibility & Driver Requirements
- The primary driver must be at least 21 years of age and hold a current, valid driver's licence.
- Visitors from countries where licences are not in English must carry an International Driving Permit (IDP).
- Drivers aged 21–24 may be subject to a young driver surcharge as displayed during booking.
- Additional drivers must be declared at the time of booking or at pick-up and must also hold a valid licence. An additional driver fee applies.
- The Company reserves the right to refuse rental to any person who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or who does not meet licence requirements.
2. Booking & Payment
- All bookings are subject to vehicle availability and are only confirmed upon receipt of full payment.
- Prices are displayed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and are inclusive of applicable taxes.
- Payment is processed securely by Stripe. The Company does not store card numbers.
- A security bond is held against the credit card provided at check-in. The bond amount is shown on the booking page and in your confirmation email.
3. Cancellations & Amendments
- Cancellations made more than 72 hours before the scheduled pickup time may be eligible for a refund at the Company's discretion, less an administration fee.
- Cancellations made within 72 hours of pickup are non-refundable.
- No-shows (failure to collect the vehicle at the agreed time without prior notice) are non-refundable.
- Amendment requests are subject to availability and must be made by contacting us directly.
4. Pick-up & Drop-off
- The renter must present a valid driver's licence, the booking confirmation, and the credit card used for the booking at the time of pick-up.
- Vehicles will be provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full. A refuelling charge applies if the vehicle is returned with less fuel than provided.
- Late returns will incur a fee equivalent to the applicable daily rate, prorated to the nearest half-day, unless prior written agreement has been obtained.
5. Insurance & Liability
5.1 Basic cover
All rentals include basic third-party liability insurance. The renter remains liable for an excess amount
(as displayed during booking) in the event of damage or theft.
5.2 Optional insurance upgrades
Reduced-excess and comprehensive protection tiers are available as optional add-ons during booking.
Details of cover are displayed on the booking page and in the rental agreement.
5.3 Exclusions
Insurance cover is void in the following circumstances:
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Driving off designated roads unless specifically authorised
- Driving outside Niue
- Gross negligence or deliberate damage
- Driving by an undeclared or ineligible driver
6. Vehicle Condition & Care
- The renter is responsible for the vehicle from the time of pick-up until return.
- Any damage (including tyre, glass, or undercarriage damage) must be reported immediately.
- Interior cleaning charges apply if the vehicle is returned in an unreasonably dirty condition.
- Smoking in vehicles is strictly prohibited. A deodorising fee applies if this condition is breached.
7. Breakdown & Accidents
In the event of a breakdown, please contact us immediately using the number provided in your confirmation email.
In the event of an accident, the renter must obtain a police report and provide full details to the Company within 24 hours.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential
loss arising from the rental of a vehicle, including but not limited to loss of enjoyment, missed connections, or loss
of personal belongings left in the vehicle.
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Niue and New Zealand.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
10. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version in force at the time of your booking will apply.
